Reasons for different belt abn
For the abnormal sound of the car belt, many owners mistakenly believe that the belt is too tight or too loose, in fact, this is a surface phenomenon, adjusting the tensioner can not solve the problem. Prompt the owner: This is because the rubber is too hard, the friction is reduced and the slip is caused, and the friction causes abnormal noise. Let's take a look!

1. squeaking:
The belt makes a loud noise, which generally means that the friction coefficient of the belt surface is greatly reduced and it has been excessively worn. If you make a noise when the vehicle is under load, you may wish to observe one of the transmission belts. You will find that the resistance or elastic force on the belt automatic elastic device or belt tension pulley will increase abnormally.
Most belt automatic dancers have a set of belt wear length indicators somewhere along the direction of the slideway between the bottom and the dancer arms. The mark consists of a pointer and two or three signs that indicate the working range of the belt tensioner. If the pointer is outside this range, the belt will stretch too long and should be replaced. On a vehicle without a belt automatic tensioner, a standard belt extension gauge is used in the middle of the two pulleys for measurement. If it is different from the standard value, it is better to replace the belt.

If the elongation of the drive belt does not exceed its limit, then if your car is equipped with an automatic tensioner, you should focus on it. First, start the engine, load the auxiliary drive as much as possible (such as turning on the lights, air conditioning, turning the wheels, etc.), and then observe the belt tensioner cantilever; while the engine is working, the belt tensioner suspension tube should have a small displacement the amount. If the belt tensioner can't move, turn off the engine and manually move it within the working stroke of the belt tensioner suspension tube, which is about 0.6 cm. If the cantilever of the belt tensioner cannot move, it indicates that the belt tensioner has failed and should be replaced in time; if the displacement of the belt tensioner cantilever exceeds 0.6 cm, the spring load is too small, the belt will slip, and then measure again. In this way, only the belt tensioner is replaced.
If the belt is not over-extended and the automatic tensioner is working well, look at the working surface of the belt as smooth as a mirror. This is a typical phenomenon of slipping under load due to excessive belt wear. The paint peeling off the surface of the pulley is a good proof of the slip phenomenon.

If the belt creaking often occurs in wet weather, and the belt and pulley surfaces are smoother, allow the auxiliary configuration to work under load on the system while sprinkling water on the belt. If there is a noise, replace the belt.

2. Long screaming or harsh noise:

Although the surface of the pulley is reversely mounted due to dirt such as sand or a used belt, the belt may emit long screams or harsh noises, but it is usually caused by improper assembly of the auxiliary device.

If the above noise occurs in a new car that is driving shortly, it may be caused by poor quality of the original factory. Check the apparent parts that you think might cause a malfunction. If the above noise occurs on an old car, then you should consider whether some of the accessories of the auxiliary drive should be completely replaced. Careful observation of accessories that may have been replaced (such as generators, steering assist pumps, etc.) to see if their mounting brackets are secure may also cause pulley assembly misalignment.

It is mentioned above that dirt or sand between the belt and the pulley can also cause the above noise, so if the car is used in a dirty environment, check the surface of all the pulleys for dirt.

Take the timing gear belt and the installation should be adjusted immediately. This is why it is necessary to indicate the direction of rotation of the timing gear belt. If the fashion gear is removed after removing the timing gear from other maintenance work, you will hear a sharp, harsh scream when the belt is running. Try to reverse the installation direction of the belt to see if the fault disappears.

3. Beep, snoring, roaring or humming:

Continuous humming or humming and increasing with engine speed generally means that the bearings of the auxiliary rotating mechanism are deficient in oil. These noises can be further checked with the aid of a stethoscope. Then remove the drive belt and turn the parts suspected to be faulty by hand. If the rotation is difficult or the sound is rough and harsh, do not hesitate to replace the bearing or replace the corresponding parts. However, it should be noted that each time you replace the parts of the auxiliary drive accessories, you must not forget to replace the belt tensioning wheel and the automatic elastic device. If the continuous whistling sound gradually becomes a humming sound as the engine speed increases, it indicates that the corresponding bearing will quickly fail.

4. Rumble

Rumble sound is a kind of sound that is more typical of belt vibration. Especially when the auxiliary mechanism transmission system is running, when the engine reaches a certain speed, the noise will increase significantly. The cause of such failures is generally due to the looseness of the drive belt, excessive stretching or damage to the belt tensioner and the elastic wheel.
